Hey everyone, so I decided to write about four ways that we can change the world because I feel like while this world is changing it’s not completely changing for the better. Take this corona pandemic for example, it’s gotten so out of hand to where I’ve seen people wear masks in their cars even when they’re by themselves. That’s just nuts! Grocery stores even have to limit how many toilet papers people buy. This is going to be a long blog post so make your favorite drink snuggle into your favorite blanket and enjoy what I have to say. 😊
The first way that you can change the world is by simply being yourself and not putting on an act for people! Psalm 139:14-16 says;” Praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful; I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” Did you catch that? You are fearfully and wonderfully made! God made us while we were in our mother’s wombs for a specific purpose! I understand that life can be stressful. But it doesn’t mean that isn’t worth living because life can also be amazing! I remember a few years ago a close friend of mine and I went to a college ministry retreat and that weekend was AMAZING! Not only because of the pictures that I took while I was there but also because of the friends that I met during that retreat that I’m still friends with to this day! It’s those moments that makes life amazing times that you can just let loose and just have fun without worrying about what you have going on in your life which is exactly why it’s important to live life to the fullest and not worry about what other people think of you the only opinion that matters is those closest to you, God and what you think of yourself! Which brings me to the second way that you can change the world.
The second way that you can change the world is by standing up for what you believe in! 1 Peter 3:15-16; says” but in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.” When it comes to being a Christian you need to always be ready to share why you’re a Christian which I know can be hard but it doesn’t mean that you should just give up! Because if you give up then who is going to share your story? Everyone has a story even if some parts are pretty crazy it’s still your story and it doesn’t end when you give your life to Christ. When you give your life to Christ that’s just the beginning of your story because no one said that once you give your life to Christ that’s just a lie! Matthew 28:16-20; says” Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” God will always be with you no matter where you go! I remember back in 2015 I had just graduated from high school and was in Anchorage, Alaska on my first mission’s trip and I remember I had just shared my testimony and afterwards there was a woman that came up to me and shared what she’s going through and it was amazing because I love hearing about how God has impacted other people because everyone has an amazing story that’s still being written! Which brings me to the third reason on how we can change the world.
The third way that we can change the world is by being thankful for what we have which is hard but when you really think about it there are so many people that have less than what we have. A few weeks ago, my mom and I were out and we saw a family that were on the sidewalk because they didn’t have anywhere to go so, I asked my mom if we could give them some water because it was pretty hot that day and I’m still very thankful that we were able to do that! Colossians 4:2 says; “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” Did you catch that? Be watchful and thankful. Being watchful means to observe someone for example: observing Christ. A good way that you can be thankful is going to a homeless shelter and helping families in need or even helping someone that you know carry in groceries or even buy groceries for them because while it may not be much helping people can give you a different perspective to life. Think back to thanksgivings and Christmases with your family when you were a kid or even last year. What was your favorite thing about those two holidays? Was it the meals or was it the people that you were with? For me it was and still is the people that I was with because every thanksgiving growing up my family and I would go to Pella, Iowa for thanksgiving lunch and I always loved being able to meet new people while also talking to my family because we didn’t always get along and I’m still very thankful when we do get along. Then Christmas my dad has us take turns opening Christmas presents sometimes youngest to oldest or oldest to youngest when I was a kid and early teen years, I didn’t always like it because I was very impatient back then and still am sometimes but not as much usually. My point is while family life can be crazy it’s those little moments that make you remember why it’s very important to be thankful for what you have. Because a lot of people don’t have anything which is sad. Psalm 100:4 says;” Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. “Even in hard times we need to give thanks to Christ because if it wasn’t for him, we wouldn’t be alive. For those of you that are going through a hard time no matter what is happening in your life. Just remember that it’s just a season and just like spring, summer, fall and winter every season comes to an end eventually you just need to be patient. Because there’s a season for everything. Which brings me to the fourth way of how we can change the world.
The fourth way that we can change the world is by being quiet sometime which at times can be hard. For me personally, there are times that I want to talk and know I shouldn’t especially when I’m stressed out and feel like I’m going to freak out which does happen occasionally but there are also times that I want to stay quiet like when I have a lot going through my head which happens frequently but I’m also very soft spoken so my voice isn’t always loud most of the time. Proverbs 10:19;” Sin is not ended by multiplying words, but the prudent hold their tongues. “Sometimes it’s best to be quiet if you’re angry and know you’ll say something that you’ll regret. Something that I’ve done is whenever I feel my emotions going crazy, I would find somewhere that I’ll be alone to calm down. Either that or journal what I’m thinking so that way I don’t lose my temper. Which can be very healing. Proverbs 29:11 says;” Fools give full vent to their rage, but the wise bring calm in the end.” When your upset it can be very tempting to yell and while yelling may help during that time it can also help to call or text a friend to tell he or she what happened because while depending on the situation you may have every right to yell at that person yelling isn’t the best way to handle the situation no matter how frustrating the situation may be. Luke 10:38-42 says;” As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!” “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” Mary and Martha are an excellent example of why it’s very important to take care of yourself because with Martha she was very stressed out which is the case with many people in this world and while sometimes stress can be a good thing if your stressed-out all the time it can lower your immune system. With Mary she chose to listen to the Lord which is a great thing because sometimes all of us myself included need to be quiet sometimes and just listen.
As I finish this blog post, I just want to challenge you to really think about what I’ve said. If you have any questions about anything, prayer requests or just need someone to talk to feel free to comment below or message me. Thanks for reading!
