Hey everyone, so I decided to talk about the power of prayer and forgiveness because that’s something that I feel like everyone myself included struggles with especially forgiveness for me personally because a back in 2019. I had a lot of firsts 1 of which included my first boyfriend and breakup all in the same year which honestly the breakup was the hardest part of that year for me. Because I did become emotionally involved with him more than I should of which is honestly the hardest part for me to get over and I’m still working through forgiving him. Which is what I want to talk about forgiving the person that hurt you and how prayer can help along with forgiving yourself which is what I’m still going through and that’s okay. Something that I’ve learned about forgiveness is that depending on what happened it can take some time before you truly forgive that person and yourself. Deuteronomy 31:6 says;” Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Did you catch that? Be strong and courageous! Which includes forgiving the person that hurt you but don’t go thinking that forgiveness is an overnight process because it isn’t and can take a long time including many nights of crying yourself to sleep. Jeremiah 29:11-12 says;” 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.” Just like these verses talk about God has a plan for you and will always be there for you even in the darkest of days. Which life can definitely be dark at times or for some people all the time. For me personally, this week has been pretty stressful with different family issues to where I’ve cried a lot because my anxiety has been going crazy a lot these days and I just don’t know what about it and that’s okay. Sometimes you just need to have a good cry which includes crying out to God. Because he cares about you more than anyone ever will. He will never hurt you the way people both in your past and now can. Psalm 34:18 says;” The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Did you catch that? The Lord will always be close to you and will restore your spirit when it’s crushed because he truly is your rock! Now I don’t know about you, but I definitely needed that reminder because life is stressful and forgiveness is definitely hard especially when you used to be close to that person to me that’s the worst kind of pain there is and can definitely cause trust issues in some cases major trust issues that can make it where it takes a while to both forgive the person that hurt you and make it where it takes a while to trust people. Psalm 130:1-5 says; “Out of the depths I cry to you, LORD; Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy. If you, LORD, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you. I wait for the LORD, my whole being waits, and in his word, I put my hope.” With God, there is forgiveness no matter what you’ve done and because of that it’s possible to forgive the people that have hurt you even if it takes a while. For me personally, there are people that I’m still having trouble forgiving including my ex-boyfriend who cheated on me and blocked me instead of being a man and telling me that we were done and so for the longest time even though people told me that it wasn’t my fault I still thought it was and even though now I have forgiven myself it’s still taking some time for me to forgive him there are still days that I wish I knew why he did it and that’s okay somethings are better unsaid whether it’s forever or temporary. Maybe you’re in the same position or similar situation someone did something to you and you don’t know why. Well, I’m here to tell you that it’s okay to not be okay and to take your time to forgive those that have hurt you because forgiveness is hard there’s no doubt about it but just like these verses talk about it’s good to wait on the Lord and serve him especially if your still single. As I close, I just want to challenge you to really wait on the Lord because he really does care about you and loves hearing from you! As always, if you need to talk, have any prayer requests or questions feel free to message me on my Facebook page which has the same name as this blog or e-mail me at homeschoolgradblog@gmail.com.
