Hey everyone, so this week I decided to talk about enjoying the single life partly because valentine’s day was last Sunday but also because I see so many people in my life even those that. I’m connected to through Facebook that are in a rush to be in a relationship and get married and for some have kids and while being in a relationship can be fun and exciting. It can also exhausting especially if it’s a long-distance relationship which at times can be hard especially if you’re just starting to date. Not to say that being in a relationship is a bad thing in fact you can learn a lot about yourself in a dating relationship but 1 thing about dating is that it can cause a lot of pressure to do certain things including having sex or flirting way too much which is why it’s important to have self-control and actually get to know the person before you date that person and to make sure that both of your hearts are in the right place before you start dating. Something that I’ve started doing is to a point staying away from romance movies and books and just focusing on improving myself and staying away from certain types of music. Isaiah 30:18 says;” Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore, he will rise up to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!” Did you catch that last part? Blessed are all those who wait for him! I know life is crazy and that’s okay life wasn’t meant to be slow no matter how nice it sounds sometimes and sometimes emotions can get pretty overwhelming. Something that I’ve learned over the years is that yeah life can be crazy but that doesn’t mean that there are times of rest too. I remember last year I decided to just disappear from the world for a day and just take pictures because I was burned out between different family stuff happening combined with a decision that I had made to stop going to Des Moines salt company because I had aged out and going through my first breakup and still trying to get used to living with my parents again. That was a lot and even though now I’m not as overwhelmed with it all. There are still times that my emotions overwhelm me and that’s okay. That was one of the reasons that I decided to just enjoy being single because while being in a relationship is fun it’s also important to find time to focus on yourself and being single is a good time to do that because there’s more to life than dating. Life’s full of adventure and joy you just got to find it no longer how long it takes. For me personally, being single has also given me time to work through trust issues that I’ve developed over the years with different things that have happened in my life because life has been crazy these past few years and there have been times that I’ve just wanted to get away for a week or two to just recharge and even though that hasn’t happened yet. I have slowly been starting over even if it’s taking longer than I had hoped it would take and at this time there’s still a lot of people that I’ve chosen to either keep my distance from or just not have in my life anymore. Because I’m still in the process of moving on from my past even if there are still stuff that I haven’t opened up about just yet. Maybe you’re in the same or similar position that I’m in your trying to move on but it’s taking some time to move on well, I’m here to tell you that it’s okay to take your time on forgiving people and move on with your life even if it takes some time. That’s where patience comes in. Hebrews 10:36 says;” You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.” In life there will always be times that you’ll want to just give up especially when your single and going through a breakup. Honestly, I’d be lying if I said that breakups are easy or even being single after being in a relationship but something I’ve been told off and on my whole life is that when life gives you lemons make lemonade which is different for everyone. For me it just means that when life is stressful make the out of it no matter what the situation is, and that God will always take care of me no matter what I do and what happens in my life. That was honestly how I got through going to speech, physical and occupational therapy twice a week when I was a kid because I did have struggles growing up and there were times that I had to be very careful on what I did and when I went outside even got bullied for the fact that I have high functioning autism which still isn’t something that I talk about very much and it’s not because I’m ashamed of it. It’s because my Mom always taught my siblings and I that there’s more to life than physical and mental health issues because life is full of adventure! As I close, I just want to challenge you to make the most out of life and to get to know yourself before you start dating either again or for the first time because I promise you won’t regret it!
