Resting in Christ part 2

Hey everyone, so this week I’ll be continuing the series on resting in Christ because I feel like everyone including myself needs that reminder to take life one step at a time. Which I know can be hard to do at times because life tends to be pretty crazy at times if not all the time and it can be easy to say oh, I’ll spend time with God later or I don’t have time to do it. That can be pretty easy to do, and I admit there are times that I’ve thought that more times than I’d like to admit especially during the week because I work Monday-Friday usually 10am-4pm but sometimes am called in as early as 7am and on those days when I get home all I want to do is sleep or watch a movie and just be lazy which happens a lot. My point is it is easy to just be lazy and say that I’ll spend time with God later but if you do that then your spirit will get worn out.  Something that I’ve started doing is on Sundays when it’s nice outside I’ve started walking to church and leaving a little early to get coffee or something before heading to church because I live walking distance from the church I attend on Sunday mornings and singing worship songs both to QuikTrip (which is a gas station near my house) and on my way to church last week I even decided to walk in the rain just to get coffee before church which looking back probably wasn’t the wisest decision and that’s okay because I have a tendency to make some spur of the moment decisions some of which probably isn’t a wise decision. Maybe you tend to make some pretty crazy decisions whether it’s last minute or about something that you’ve been thinking about for a while. Well, I’m here to tell you that while sometimes it can be good to make last minute decisions sometimes it’s not very wise to do that especially when it comes to major decisions that affect your life and it’s always a good idea to be on God’s timing when it comes to decisions and not on your emotions which I know from experience can get pretty strong sometimes. Jeremiah 29:11-13 says;” For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me and I will find you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” I know decisions can be hard but with God’s help decisions are a whole lot easier with him by your side just like these verses talk about God will listen to you when you pray to him. Psalm 14:11 says;” The Lord delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love.” A big part of resting in Christ is putting hope in his unfailing love because Jesus really does care about you unconditionally. Which means that no matter what you’ve done, what other people have done to you and what has happened in your past God will love you no matter what. Because everyone makes mistakes that’s what makes us human which isn’t a bad thing. God will also heal you in anyway need healing. Take these past almost 2 years for example: almost 2 years ago I was making some bad decisions in a relationship that I was in and it ended badly to where the guy that I was dating started becoming emotionally distant and at the time I didn’t think much of it until a few days before he broke up with me he told me that he was thinking about breaking up with me and later on he did end up blocking me on Facebook and 2 days later I found out that he was cheating on me. So, for the longest time I was noticeably quiet and didn’t want to anything except be by myself because I was overwhelmed by my emotions and what had happened. My point is while bad things happen and sometimes you do want to just disappear from the world it’s during that time that God will show you who he truly is. Because while life is hard, and people can hurt you pretty badly something that I’ve been learning is that there’s a light at the end of the tunnel even if the tunnel is really long. Just like Jeremiah 29:11 talks about God has a plan for you no matter what happens and will always take care of you no matter what happens and that includes the stressful times that you go through. As I close this blog post and series, I just want to challenge you to live in in the moment and not get stressed out about every single thing in your life because life is way too short to be stressed out! As always, If you ever need someone to talk to, have any prayer requests, have any questions about anything feel free to comment below, message me on Facebook or e-mail me at homeschoolgradblog@gmail.com!
