Starting the new year single part 2

Hey everyone, so this week is the 2nd and final part of starting the new year single.  Like I said last week when it comes to healing you need to be patient with yourself and let yourself feel whatever emotions that might arise. How I learned that was 2 years ago I was in a relationship that went way too fast and so after he broke up with me, I went through a phase that I wanted to date and depend on guys to heal me, but I had seen how that wasn’t a wise idea, so I chose not to date which required a lot of self-control.

If you’re in that same situation, I want to challenge you to commit to at least 1 year of being single and just focus on God, family, and friends and making God first priority in your life because I’m telling you right now that it will pay off in the long run. If you are thinking about marriage, then start writing letters to your future husband for the ladies or wife for the guys that are reading this that’s something that I started doing back in October and has helped me quite a bit when it comes to preparing for marriage down the road even if I know that it’ll be a while before I get married and it’s kept me focused which is something that I struggle with at times if not all the time. Joshua 1:9 (NIV) says;” Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; for the Lord, your God will be with you wherever you go.” How this verse, in particular, has helped me stay focused and I hope will help you stay focused both on staying single and in general is just knowing that no matter what happens God will always be with me. Which can sometimes be hard to remember especially this week because my Facebook account was hacked and so I had to create a new account and am still in the process of decision-making on if I’m going to create a new blog page or try to regain access to my old Facebook account plus different family stuff happening. Side note, I did end up creating a new Facebook page for this blog which I’m going to save for the next blog post as to why I did that.

Anyway, For me, the hardest thing about being at times is seeing other couples so happy and while I agree that everyone should be happy there are also times that I miss being in a relationship but am reminded by God 1 way or another that there’s a season for everything and right now is my season to be single and focus on myself, God along with my family and friends no matter how complicated some relationships in my life might be. Some relationships within my family are complicated, and I’ve learned to be okay with that even if it’s taken some time and sometimes it’s hard living in a complicated family.  Maybe it’s hard for you as well.

I’m here to tell you that it’s okay to feel sad about being single sometimes just try not to let it control your whole life because then you’ll miss out on all that life has to offer! Take this past Saturday, for example, a good friend of mine and I went to winter jam which is a Christian concert that takes place in different states in the USA if there’s 1 in your state or in a nearby state I definitely recommend going because it’s a great way to grow in your faith in Christ! That was my either 2nd or 3rd time going first time since I was 17 and her first time and both of us were looking forward to it and had a great time! Makes me smile just thinking about it both before and after the concert and during because sometimes it’s just nice being in the moment and not necessarily checking your phone every 5 minutes. Because then you’ll miss out on all that life has to offer if you are just live digitally. Because if you live digitally all the time then you’ll also miss out on developing some pretty amazing friendships.

Colossians 3:13-14 (NIV) says;” Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.” Sometimes part of relationships is forgiveness which can be hard at times especially depending on what person did and who you found out about from. For me, there have been times even this week that people have talked bad about me behind my back which does hurt but I’ve learned to move on even if it means not having that person in my life which just because you forgive that person doesn’t mean that you have to let that person back in your life because while we’re called to live together in perfect unity sometimes it can mean wishing that person well but not necessarily having that person in your life. I did have to forgive my ex-boyfriend and myself and now, while there are things I need to work on within myself before I’m ready to be in a relationship I know now 2 years later that in time I will start dating again and I hope that if you haven’t gotten to that realization yet I hope you’ll get there soon just remember to be patient with yourself that it’s okay to be single for as long as God calls you to be single.

As I close, I just want to challenge you to write down at least 2 things that you feel like you could work on within yourself and then write down what you could do to do that. As always, if you ever need to talk feel free to comment below, message me on my new Facebook page named Faithful, or email me at Homeschoolgradblog@gmail.com Thanks for reading!
