Worship from the heart

Hey everyone, so this week I decided to talk about worship from the heart because I feel like there are separate ways to worship that myself included may not necessarily think about. Plus, the fact that worship is so much more than just singing. For example, you could worship Christ by what you do.

Psalms 150:6 (NIV) says;” Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord.”  Worship is praising God even when times are hard. Take this pandemic, for example, none of us including myself saw it coming. But even though this is happening that’s no reason to just stop praising God. No matter what happens. Just like this verse talks about. “Let everything that has breathe praise the Lord. Praise the Lord” Now let me ask you this. Do you have breath? Because last I checked the only species that don’t have to breathe are plants. This verse applies to everyone!

Now, I have a question for you. What is worship to you? For me, worship is like I said praising God through life. Because while singing is a part of worship it’s only one part. I remember back in 2012 I was helping lead praise and worship and whenever I opened my eyes to see the lyrics because there were some songs I didn’t know. I remember seeing a lot of people with their hands held high and some that were a little more on the reserved side when it comes to worship. I mentioned that particular story because there are people that are reserved and some that like dancing whenever they worship for me personally whenever I’m singing, I raise my hand, but I also do some American Sign Language or the abbreviation ASL or have my palms out whenever I’m singing worship music whether it’s in church or on my own.

Honestly, everyone has their own way of worshiping and that’s okay because everyone’s unique in their own way. John 4:23-24 says (NIV);” Yet a time is coming and has now come when true worshipers will worship the Father in Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must be in the spirit and in truth. “That time is now! As followers of Christ, we’re called to worship God in spirit and in truth. With spirit, it means worshiping God how he leads you to worship, and with the truth, it means staying true to yourself no matter what anyone tells you. Because like I’ve said before, the only opinions that matter are God and yourself. However, it is a wise idea to ask for advice whenever you need it and take what they say seriously.

Worship can also be done in prayer and believing that God’s will can and will be done. Matthew 18:19 (NIV) says; Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth they ask for, it will be done for them by my father in heaven.” I know that sometimes it is hard to believe that God will do something but with God anything is possible especially if 2 or more people are praying for the exact thing to happen. Take my pectus excavatum for example: even though right now I still have it I still believe that it’s temporary despite what doctors say. It’s not chronic and a few years ago I found out that my future kids could potentially inherit from me. I’m believing that they won’t get it. Because in Christ Jesus we are healed from anything that Satan throws at us! You name it you’re healed from it! Isaiah 53:5 (NIV) says;” But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him and by his wounds, we are healed.” Did you catch that last part? By HIS WOUNDS WE ARE HEALED!!! Not by your wounds his wounds!!! Because yeah we all have scars some visible but most within you and if you have been hurt by others even by the church, I’m here to tell you that our God is powerful and that he has the POWER to heal even the deepest wounds!!!

God is always going to be there for you even when no one else is!!! Just like this verse talks about he was pierced for our transgressions! God loves you more than you can ever imagine and more than anyone here on earth ever will because our home isn’t on earth it’s in heaven!
