Hey everyone, so this week I want to talk about the grace of God because that’s something that I’ve been learning a lot about recently. Because that’s something that God’s been teaching a lot these past few months especially.
Because life has been stressful but even through that God’s been reminding me of all the amazing things that he’s done in my life including leading me to life change church in Des Moines, Iowa 2 years ago because I started going to that church during a time that I was still trying to get life together after being cheated on a year before along with being dumped both by my now ex-boyfriend along with growing up going to multiple churches to the point that I did have to ask my dad. Which church are we going to today? Along with still being in the process of making my faith my own. Those are all things that I used to struggle with and by the grace of God and the help of my church family, I got through it. Along with still being alive after learning how to drive last year driving into a dumpster and grass along with having the airbag fly out at me when I was turning in an empty parking lot.
It’s moments like that that I was scared for my life and am still very thankful to be alive. Because while that did happen and for the first month or two, I was thinking about just giving up on driving and while I have decided to learn how to drive eventually, I also want to make sure that I’m okay mentally. My point is sometimes life is hard and there are still times that I struggle with the fact that I could have been killed at that moment but by the grace of God I wasn’t killed and even though it’s taking some time for me to heal both physically and mentally I know that I’ll be okay. Even if it takes some time. God’s got this!
1 Peter 5:9-10 (NIV) says; “Resist him standing firm in the faith because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings. And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm, and steadfast.” To be steadfast means to remain firm in your faith which I know from experience is very important not just during stressful times but all the time you can be on top of the world and still remain firm in your faith which includes trusting Christ no matter what happens. For me, that means trusting that what I’m doing in this stage of life is enough.
Because there are times especially recently that I feel like I should be doing more when it comes to ministry. I just don’t know what that is quite yet and that’s okay. Because life isn’t about what we should be doing. It’s about what we’re doing at the moment. Matthew 6:34 (NIV) says;” Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” I know from personal experience that it’s easy to worry about what’s going to happen next in my life to the point that. I do struggle with thinking. What if so and so happens? I was thinking about that today as I was working because I found out that 2 of my old coworkers passed away recently and you know what? Life happens and sometimes you just have to make lemonade out of the lemons life throws at you. Just like this verse talks about each day has its own worries.
So, looking back on the time that I worked with them and my time at Burger King in general I don’t regret it one bit. I’m honestly very thankful for the time that I worked with them. It’s days like today that I do think about people that have passed away in the past even in the past year both last year and now this year and even now it does hurt I know that I’ll be okay no matter how long it takes. Maybe you just lost someone, whether it’s an old coworker, current coworker, friend, or family member. I’m here to tell you that it’s okay to grieve. Because for me personally I was friends with them and I’m very thankful for the time that I spent with both of them even if there were times that both of them were annoying. That was honestly why in the morning the day I found out I was in tears because I care about both of them. But there’s a season for everything. A season for mourning and a season to be happy. Because I know that at least one of them was a Christian and that I’ll get to see them again. It’s by the grace of God that I did get to know them and it’s because of my faith and trust in Christ that I know that I’ll be okay.
As I close, if you haven’t given your life to Christ, I want to encourage you to give your life to Him because it’s the best decision that you’ll ever make!
