Hey everyone, so this week I’ll be writing about the power of worship because that’s something that’s been on my heart a lot this week. Because there are times that I feel overwhelmed with life and music combined with worship is a way for me to relax and not feel so overwhelmed and feel like I must please everyone. Which is something that I struggle with sometimes. Maybe this is something that you struggle with as well, I’m here to tell you as much as I’m telling myself this. You don’t have to please everyone the primary person whose opinion does matter is yourself and the one who created you which is Christ!
Psalm 139:14 (NIV) says; I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful; I know that full well.” You are made for a purpose! Life can be hard but just like this verse talks about you are fearfully and wonderfully made and don’t let anyone tell you differently! Or else I know from experience that it will tear you down emotionally. Because words and people have the power to hurt you if you let them. That’s how I was for a while until 2 years ago when I put my foot down and decided for myself that I wasn’t going to let people tear me down no matter how much they tried. There have even been quite a few people that I’ve had to either set boundaries or ban from my life because of that. Which at times is hard but it’s necessary for my own mental, physical, and spiritual health which is not perfect by any means necessary. Because there are things within myself that I need to work on.
This is where worship comes into play because worship is powerful! I remember the first time I went to Life Change Church I was hurting a lot because of stuff with my ex, family, and just life in general, and going to church on my own combined with worship is what helped me heal along with time. There’s been so many times that I have been stressed and my number one stress reliever is worship music and taking a deep breath in and out and just reminding myself that I’ll be okay.
Maybe worship has helped you in one way or another if it has helped you, I would love to hear about how it has specifically helped you! Something that I’ve learned throughout this crazy roller coaster called life is that while life does have its ups and downs there’s one thing that will always stay the same and that’s God and true friends! Depending on the friend he or she can and will bring you closer to Christ even if sometimes they say things that you may not want to hear at that moment it’s only because they care about you!
1st Peter 4:8-10 (NIV) says;” Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. “It’s times like these that it is important to love each other Christ loves us which is what these verses are talking about because Christ loves us so much that he died on the Cross for our sins which is the ultimate sacrifice because life can be stressful but even though life can be stressful it can be full of joy if you let it! Just like these verses talk about we should all offer hospitality to each other without complaining which is something that I struggle with occasionally.
Psalms 96:1-4 (NIV) says; Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth. Sing to the Lord, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples. For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all Gods.” For me personally, Worship has been very healing and powerful because there have been times when I’m alone, hurting, or even on my Sunday morning walks I would just start singing worship songs, hymns any song honestly as long as it has a message to it. The nice thing about worship music is that music can put you in a mindset that you can do whatever life throws at you! Same with hymns my favorite hymn is Amazing Grace because the song talks about grace hence the name Amazing Grace! Even when you are lost for a time, Christ will always find you and meet you where you are!
As I close, I want to challenge you to find a worship song or hymn that really connects with you! As always, if you ever want to talk, or have any questions or prayer requests feel free to email me at homeschoolgradblog@gmail.com or message me on my Facebook page called faithful. Have a wonderful day and week! Thanks for reading!
