Hey everyone, so this week I’ll be continuing mental health and Christianity. This week I’ll be talking about healing because a big part of mental health is healing from what you’ve gone through whether it be from abuse, family issues, losing a family member pretty much anything.
Take this year for example, my family and I have gone through a lot with my dad being in and out of the hospital and just life because life can get crazy and stressful and while ultimately losing my dad July 24th of this year hasn’t been easy, I know that everyone in my family including myself will be okay. Because life wasn’t meant to be easy, just possible. Jeremiah 29:11-13 (NIV) says;” For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Sometimes if not all the time life is crazy and while what you’re going through right now might not be easy life was never meant to be easy and I promise you this while it may not seem like God has a plan for you, he does and just like these verses talk about 1. He will never harm you. 2. When you come and pray to him and listen with your whole heart he will listen. That’s something I can guarantee. Because just like these verses talk about God will never let you go through anything that you couldn’t handle.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned these past few years is that when one door closes that just means that another will open eventually it just takes patience. Something I’ve been quiet about on social media is that the past 2 years I’ve been working full-time which everyone knew about but I’ve also been finishing High School. Because back when I was homeschooled, I did the work which is how I graduated but decided to use the Facebook account that was hacked a few years ago to sign in to my school stuff and as a result my Mom couldn’t create a transcript so I couldn’t go to college. So, when I found out about a program called guild that could pay for me to go to Penn Foster High School. I decided to do it so that I could go to college.
My point is sometimes life doesn’t always turn out the way you want and that’s okay. There are times when I do wish life could be different and many times that my mind is like I need to finish high school now and while it has taken some time as I’m writing this, I have 9 more tests left and have learned to be more patient because there have been times that I’ve had to take a break and that’s okay.
I remember when my Dad went to heaven there was like a month that I was doing school off and on, but I was also hurting, and I still am some because I do miss him and while I know in my heart that I’ll be okay. I also know that it’s important to be patient with myself and when I need to take a step back and just remember to breathe and remember that my Dad is in heaven with my Cat Jack who passed away on Christmas of last year. Psalm 23:4 says,” Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” I encourage you to read through Psalm 23 because it’s very encouraging, especially when life is overwhelming. At times life can be overwhelming, especially when you’re healing from a broken relationship, losing a loved one or anything that life throws at you. This verse is an excellent reminder for anyone that’s going through a hard time and is feeling overwhelmed. Because even when you’re feeling alone, you’re never truly alone because Christ is with you always. That’s honestly how I was able to sing in front of a lot of people at my Dad’s celebration of life because while I was nervous, I just focused on Christ and for the most part not so much on the people that were watching me sing.
Focusing on Christ is the best thing you can do especially when your doing a hard thing and healing. For me most recently the hardest thing that I had to do was singing in front of many people at my Dad’s celebration of life and also just this past week finishing high school because with singing that was partially because it was at my Dad’s celebration of life but also because it was being broadcast on YouTube which was nerve wracking especially given that I had 2 weeks to learn the song.
During High School I remember there were times that I had to take a break because of different life situations including family. That was a few times that I did get overwhelmed and just needed to take a deep breath and remind myself that it’s going to be okay.
Maybe you’re going through a time that you are doing or about to do a hard thing. My advice to you is number one focus on Christ because he cares more about you than anyone here on earth ever will. Number two when life does get crazy remember that Christ is holding you in hands and because of that you will be okay it just takes time.
That’s where having peace in knowing that Christ is in control because life is crazy and for me personally. I do tend to get in my head and think of the worst thing that could happen and need to be reminded that it’s going to be okay. I’ll be going more into having peace in part 3 of this series so in the meantime remember to breathe and know that it’s going to be okay.
As I close, I just want to encourage you to really rest and know that Christ is in control. If you ever need to talk, have any prayer requests or have any questions feel free to message me on Facebook faithful is the page name or email Homeschoolgradblog@gmail.com. Thanks for reading!
