Worship and healing in the midst of chaos

Hey everyone, this week I want to talk about worship and healing in the midst of chaos. When life feels overwhelming. Whether it’s losing a loved one, being in school, dealing with health issues, or facing major changes. It can be easy to forget that healing can still happen right in the middle of it all.

Over the past six months, my life has been pretty chaotic. I’ve been healing from my dad’s passing. I finished high school through Penn Foster High School. I am trying to find a job. I also moved to a different state from where I formerly lived. I also recently started taking a psychology class through Christian Leaders Institute. All of it together has been a lot, but I truly believe it will be worth it in the end.

Ever since I was fifteen, I’ve wanted to help people. Over the past few months, I’ve been praying about going to college next year to study psychology. And eventually starting a counseling ministry to support families and children through what they’re going through. That’s one of the reasons I started my psychology class — it’s been educational, meaningful, and genuinely enjoyable.

Even though life has felt chaotic, I’ve learned something important. Life isn’t meant to be slow all the time — only sometimes. Psalm 34:19 (NIV) says,
“The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all.” We will all face troubles, but God walks with us through them. It’s His strength that helps us keep going even when things feel heavy. If you’re struggling right now, I want to encourage you with two things:

  1. Remember that God is always in control.
  2. Take life one day — and one moment — at a time.

When life gets overwhelming, it helps to remind yourself that Christ is guiding your steps. Taking things one day at a time doesn’t mean you’re giving up on the future. It simply means you’re trusting God with today. Matthew 6:34 (NIV) says, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” This verse reminds us that while planning can be helpful, constantly worrying about the future can steal our peace. God invites us to focus on the present moment and trust Him with what’s ahead.

Another thing that has helped me during stressful seasons is worship and music. Worship shifts our focus from our problems to God’s presence. When life feels loud, confusing, or painful, worship creates space for peace, healing, and reassurance. Even when we don’t have the right words to pray, music can speak to our hearts. That’s something that I’ve been reminded of over and over again. This past year with my dad’s health journey, along with him going home to Jesus and just life. Because life can be crazy, but it can also be wonderful. The main thing is to find the small things in life that bring you joy.

So if life feels chaotic right now, remember this: healing doesn’t wait for life to slow down. God meets us in the middle of the mess. Take life one moment at a time, keep worshiping, and trust that God is working even when everything feels uncertain. If life does feel uncertain right now, just remember that Christ is always in control and knows what he’s doing. Jeremiah 29:11-12 (NIV) says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.” Just as I was saying before, Christ is always in control, and that’s part of what these verses say. The other part is that when you pray to Christ, he will show you what to do. I am closing now. I want to encourage you to find joy in life and remember that Christ is always in control.
