Finding God’s calling for your life

Hey everyone! This week, I want to talk about finding God’s calling for your life because I think it’s something many of us struggle with—including me.

Personally, I know God has given me a heart for helping people and teaching others. I just don’t know exactly what that looks like yet. Maybe you’ve felt the same way. You know God has placed certain gifts and passions in your heart, but you’re still waiting for Him to show you the next step.

The encouraging thing is that God doesn’t expect us to have everything figured out. He simply asks us to trust Him, follow Him one step at a time, and be faithful where He has us right now. As we continue seeking Him, He is faithful to guide us according to His perfect plan.

A song that has encouraged me since I heard it for the first time when I was sixteen is Oceans (Where Feet May Fail) ” by Hillsong United. Because it has a good message to it, that was the first song that made me realize I want to help people. Here is the link to it, and I hope it encourages you as well.https://youtu.be/OP-00EwLdiU?si=QLG8AbPtnB0ixZ-K The reason I shared this video with you is partly that I wanted to do something different, but also because, just like this song talks about, God does call us out upon the waters, which means that in life there are many scary things we will do; the most important thing to remember is that God is with us always. 

Isaiah 6:8 (NIV) says;” Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”  In life, God calls us to places we might not necessarily want to go to, but he always has a reason behind it. Take my Mom and I for example. Since my dad passed away last year, God has led my Mom and I to two different states. Looking back, I can see that there was a purpose behind each move, even when I didn’t understand it at the time. Through those experiences, one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is to be patient and trust that God is in control, no matter what happens.

That’s one of the reasons Isaiah 6:8 speaks to me. God often calls us to places and situations that feel unfamiliar or even frightening. We may not know why He’s leading us there, but we can trust that He has a purpose. Like Isaiah, God simply asks us to have a willing heart. When we say, “Here am I. Send me,” we’re choosing to trust that wherever God leads us, He will go with us and accomplish His plans through us.

I still don’t know exactly what God’s calling for my life will look like, but I’ve learned that following Him is about taking one step of faith at a time. Even when the path is uncertain, I know He is faithful, and His plans are always better than anything I could plan for myself.
