Life from a Christian perspective

Hey everyone, this week I’ll be talking about how grief can turn into hope, partly because that’s something God’s been teaching me about this past year, but also because I feel like that’s something everyone struggles with. Because while losing someone can be hard, it can also help you grow stronger in your faith.

James 1:2-4 (NIV) says;”  Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” These verses remind us that hard times produce perseverance. As we continue to trust God through life’s challenges, He uses those difficult seasons to strengthen our faith, build our character, and help us grow. The perseverance we develop doesn’t just help us during hard times—it also equips us to remain faithful, humble, and grateful when life is going well. No matter what season we’re in, God is always using our experiences to shape us into the people He has called us to be. That’s honestly why, ever since I was fourteen and my grandma passed away. I’ve always believed that everything happens for a reason.

Joshua 1:9 says;” Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”  Even in life’s hardest moments, Christ is always with us. Just like Christ was with me when my grandma passed away and when my dad passed away a year ago, Christ is with you now! Which is how you can have courage through all that life throws at you. Which is what this verse is talking about. That is how grief can turn into hope, because you can trust that God and your loved one are with you.

Prayer can also help with grief because that’s how God talks to you and comforts you.  1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NIV) says;” Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” Did you catch that? Give thanks in all circumstances! Because while life can be hard, especially when a loved one passes away, there is joy in hard times because we’re never alone. Which is why prayer is very important.

Prayer also gives us a place to be honest with God about what we are feeling. When we are grieving, we may feel sad, angry, confused, or even afraid of what the future will look like without our loved one. We don’t have to hide those feelings from God. We can bring them to Him through prayer and trust that He understands what we are going through. Even when we don’t know what to say, God knows what is in our hearts. Sometimes prayer may not change our circumstances, but it can change the way we face them. God can give us the strength to take one day at a time, reminding us that He is with us through every tear, every difficult moment, and every step of the healing process. Grief may be a part of our story, but it does not have to be the end of our story. Through prayer, we can continue to draw closer to God and find hope even in the middle of our pain.

I remember when my Dad first went home to heaven; I honestly wasn’t sure what to think about it, and that’s okay. Because there are moments when you might not know what to think or feel, and that’s where prayer comes in, because even if you don’t know what to think or feel, God does, and he will help you through all of life’s moments.

As I close, I just want to encourage you to really listen to what God’s telling you. As always, if you ever need to talk or have any prayer requests or questions. Feel free to comment below, message me on Faithful through Facebook, or email me at Homeschoolgradblog@gmail.com. Thanks for reading!
